Animation and Game Development

Tiny Titans

Tiny Titans is an animated project featuring four characters battling an opponent called Royal Flush, a fusion of the King, Queen, and Jack cards from a deck. For this project, I sculpted each character in ZBrush, retopologized and rigged them in Maya, and textured them using Substance Painter. I animated each character using a combination of controls, motion capture, and animation layers, which helped refine any errors arising from the motion capture process. I composited the scenes once the animation was complete, integrating the characters with backgrounds, lighting, and additional visual elements. Afterward, I imported the scenes into Adobe Premiere Pro, where I edited the clips, applied light color grading to enhance each shot, added sound effects, and rendered the final project.

Video Game - Street Runner

Using Unreal Engine, I developed a fast-paced endless runner game entirely through Blueprints. The primary mechanics include a main menu upon game launch, a pop-up menu upon player death, a high score system (saved between player sessions), and coin collection. The game also features AI-driven elements such as a chase and catch mechanic, alongside procedurally generated obstacles to ensure replayability. Players can slide, jump, and avoid dynamic obstacles while interacting with a "WASD", "SPACE", and "C/SHIFT" keyboard-based interface.

Future updates will include the development and integration of custom 3D assets, transitioning away from pre-made assets as the project evolves. Art 4070 - Advanced Interactive Media.

Product Visualization - Air Purifer

Using Autodesk Maya and Substance Painter, I created a high-fidelity 3D model of an air purifier, with an emphasis on realistic texturing and precise detailing. The goal of this project was to explore advanced product visualization techniques, blending materials, lighting, and textures to create a polished, photorealistic result. The animation showcases the purifier’s sleek design and functional features, with special attention to its logo and branding. To bring the product to life, I employed various animation techniques, including motion paths, parenting, and strategic keyframe placement, creating dynamic camera movements that effectively highlight the product’s aesthetic and functionality.

Themescape

The Themescape project is my take on my senior motion graphic course prompt of creating a visual “stream-of-consciousness” piece. Using animation layers, 3D camera tracking, and compositing, I created a graphic that presents a mixture of retro-technology and vaporware.

Unity Game Engine - 2D Platformer

Using Unity Engine, I developed a 2D platformer game set in an abandoned mine, featuring various character animations as the player explores the environment. The assets I created included detailed tilesets, three unique player animations, and a collectible item to enhance gameplay.

This animation was my first attempt at 3D animation, created during high school with the support of a teacher who had a significant impact on me. Their encouragement sparked my passion for art and design and nurtured my interest in always learning and improving. I often reflect on this project, appreciating how much I've grown since then and how influential great teaching can be. As I continue to pursue my goals, I'm grateful for the opportunity to further my skills and knowledge through graduate studies and pursue my goal of becoming an educator.
